Hello, beautiful readers! Welcome to my blog post where I tell you my perfect recipe on how to have the best bookish fall day. So fall is officially here and for some, it may be a happy time, and for others not as much. But one thing we all should prioritize is having at least a couple of days this season where we can just have a cozy day that makes us feel well-rested and at peace. A day to get into those autumn feels and help you rest up for the fall months ahead.
However, I understand that not all of us have the luxury of having a whole day for ower self, but, I still encourage you to implement at least one of these steps at any given time of your day. It does not have to take all day or be something special, just a small act for you alone.
What Will This Bookish Fall Day Consist Of?
In this post, I will tell you how I structure a bookish rest day/ fall day and what I do. Now it was just recently I have had the time to do these things and actually experience fall. Usually, fall for me is just an absolute blur of school and sleep.
So I understand some of you will not have the time for a rest day however I truly encourage you to set some time off for yourself to reset, and not just by using your phone but actually doing an activity of some sort. Finding that time to disconnect from the usual stress will help you focus even better on your tasks ahead. And a life where you only stress about the next thing happening will not be a happy one.
You could either do these things alone or with friends. Either will be super fulfilling. Personally, I like being alone. However, talking shit and baking is one of my favorite past times. So whatever suits you.
Let the bookish fall day begin!
Step 1: Make a cup of tea
Let the day start off by doing our first cup of tea (or hot beverage of choice). My recent tea obsession is fresh lemon and ginger tea. I swear it has helped my skin so much since I started drinking it.
Now this is something I like doing every morning but on my rest days, I usually take my time while drinking it. And what I have started to do is to drink it silently if I get the opportunity. It truly helps me collect my thoughts for the day.
If you want to try my fresh lemon and ginger tea out, this is how I make it:
1 lemon
1 – 2 cm of ginger
1/2 tsp canine pepper
Optional:
Honey or Agave Syrup
How To:
- Start off by heating water.
- Slice the lemon in half. Press the juice of one-half of the lemon in the cup. Slice the other half of the lemon into thin pieces. Put them in the cup.
- Slice the ginger into thin slices, also put these in the mug.
- Add the canine pepper and optional honey.
- When the water is boiling, pour it onto the lemon, etc. Let it sit for a couple of minutes. And there you have your fresh lemon and ginger tea!
Step 2: Decisions
The next step of our bookish fall day is to make some decisions. Today we will be baking, so, what recipe do you want to follow? And while baking what fall music or book will you be listening to?
Now for people like me with indecisiveness in line with the main character in a love triangle, this will not be an easy feat. So as a solution, I am going to tell you what I choose and if it sounds good then follow my lead. But for those of you expressing your freedom to choose be sure to go for a baking recipe that takes a bit longer. However, the most important thing is for you to actually enjoy the baking and not stress out.
Baking of Choice:
Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake Donuts
- Find Recipe Here
To me, these sounded like the perfect fall pastry in all its glory. However, I would not say this is for every baker since it is quite difficult. But if you want to bake these then I would recommend you to check out ‘Food with Liz’ TikTok to get a better idea of how to do certain tasks.
Book of Choice:
This is the perfect time for audiobooks. My book of choice today was The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin.

Step 3: Put on your comfiest clothes!
Your next task is to put on your comfiest clothes because there is really nothing better.
For me, this consists of my Lululemon yoga pants or knitted pants, my Ugg slippers, and some type of comfy shirt depending on how cold it is.
I think comfy clothes are the key to having a good day in general. And it becomes even better when it looks good.
Step 4: Start baking!
Now turn that audiobook on and start baking!
Remember that when the dough needs resting or the pastry is in the oven; it becomes the perfect time to go for a walk or just get some fresh air.
Here comes a narration + pictures of this baking journey (the pumpkin cheesecake donut debacle):
We start this journey off by finding all the ingredients which was a bigger problem than it should have been.
Since I do not live in a place where they sell pumpkin spice, usually not pumpkin pure, and apparently not vanilla extract I had to become quite creative. So I made my own of all these three.
If you want to know how just email me or ask me in the comments!
Unfutanally for you; I forgot to take a picture of my dough. So here is a picture of a mystery dough from Unsplash
At this stage of my baking journey, it was going quite well. My only problem was the dough being a bit sticky.
Now I would not let this fool me, because trouble would soon be coming for me.
This is where the problems started. Honestly, I have always been bad at tying knots. I learned to tie my shoes embarrassing late. So to say this was a struggle would only be half of it.
I have no idea, absolutely none, how accomplished to make my pumpkin bundles.
This is also the stage at which I started referring to these cuties as my babies. Just look at them! They are just too cute.
Here I would like to give you some type of tip on how to succeed. But I would probably not be able to give you any useful advice. Just let the baking gods take the lead.
Good freaking luck!
Just look at my bundles of joy! They are absolutely adorable!
Here you get a beautiful picture of my frying chaos.
A masterpiece!
This is actually my first time frying anything. So, I was quite proud of myself.
And for those of you wondering, it’s ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ on the TV. Sorry, I am not very good at concentrating on one book for too long.
And the lonesome babe in the basket is my first complete little creation. Perfect in all its imperfections.
Okay, now I am finished talking about the baking process.
In my opinion, baking is one of the best ways of having those autumn feel.
Step 5: Enjoy!
Now is the time to enjoy your creation with a cup of hot beverage of your choice and a good book!
Take this time to relax and recharge for the weeks ahead.
You deserve it!
Maybe go have a picnic or sit outside for a while.
Happy Bookish Fall Day!
Love,
