What Bookish Fall Tips To Except in This Post?
As stated this article will give you 3 tips on how to survive this bookish fall. For me, fall is all about the whimsical, dreamy, magical, and mystical. All I want for fall is to implement these wonderful things in my actual life whether it’s through music, books, activities, or bookish stuff. For most of us, fall can be quite a stressful time because school is starting or for others, work is picking up. Or as it is for me, they are in the midst of a life crisis.
So, it can be difficult finding time and energy to do the thing YOU love, however finding ways to include things you enjoy in your day-to-day life is so so important, and I am here to help you. I remember feeling absolutely lost when school started because all of a sudden I had no time left, no time for anything really. It was just a blur of school and some more school. But along the way, I picked up some tips on how to prioritize and be inspired during the fall season that I would love to share with you! Let us begin!
# 1 What are you reading this bookish fall?

My first piece of advice for you to do this fall is to decide or at least have a hum about what books you really want to read. Without this guidance, you will not be able to plan ahead and actually reach your reading goals. Not knowing where you want to go means you will not get anywhere. But how do you decide which books are worth the read, well I usually start off by doing some research.
Step 1
Before even starting your search for the best reads for you, you should figure out what type of reads you are looking for. What type of books give you those yummy fall vibes? For me, it is all the fairytale-like books with a whimsical and magical feel but I also absolutely love mysteries for fall too.
Start with figuring out what you want, for example, looking at what type of content is on your Pinterest mood boards.
Step 2
Then I start the search process. I start this off by searching things such as “best books for fall”, “coziest reads for fall”, and “fall reads” etc. But if you are looking for scarier books, you could search “spooky books for fall”, “books for Halloween” and much more. So the ‘teknik’ is to write theme + season + books.
From this, you probably found some reads that interest you. You can start this journey by checking out my curated reading recommendations for fall, HERE. Also, include books you heard about from for instance TikTok or Instagram. The books you find interesting you add to a list.
Step 3
What I usually do from here is to use some sort of ranking website such as Goodreads to see how many stars they have out of five and what tropes are involved. Now this is not for everyone but I usually like doing it to see if it is worth my time.
Obviously, this is not a bulletproof method. Just because it has 4 stars or more does not mean I personally will like it, just as it does not mean I won’t like a book because it has fewer stars. For me, it is more about setting expectations and getting an idea about the book. Usually, I am looking for a book with around four stars or more. There is also I system I have when it comes to this step, since there are certain categories that usually have a harder time reaching 4 stars or more such as mysteries and classics. If you want to know more about this please write so in the comment!
Step 4
From here I rank the books from the book I most want to read to the least. Already here you have a reading list, but maybe you won’t have the time to read all of them. So, you will have to decide how many books you plan on reading. And from there, you pick your favorites.

#2 Plan Your Bookish Fall

My next advice for you is to plan ahead. I know this might seem obvious but it is so important to plan your time to be able to do what you want. It is a hard truth but without intention, you will not reach your goals or have time for the thing you want. Saying what you want and planning how you want it is the ultimate way of doing and experiencing the things you want; to experience the feelings of Gilmore Girls, the warming feeling of a cozy book, and the somber feeling of drinking a warm cup of tea and listening to raindrops tap on the window.
Creating a well-structured plan for the week or month ahead will both give you the opportunity to do the things you want and a clearer head. If there is something that helps me be in the moment and not in the other hundred things I need to do that week. This is really important if you want to really enjoy that book you want to read or really relish in the autumn feels.
I promise you, having a plan of attack will help you be more in the moment and is that not what we really want? That’s why we will be planning ahead this fall, to have that cozy bookish fall. So, how do we plan our time in the best way? This is my favorite way to do it, but you are welcome to plan however you like of course.
Before we start
I usually like planning my week ahead on Sundays. In this situation, I usually use some type of physical weekly planner, though some of you might like to use Notion or Canva. However, this is the one I am using right now, WEEKLY PLANNER, DUSTY GREEN, but it was quite expensive so I would recommend the one I used before this one, which is this planner. It is not as beautiful, but gets the work done and already has a priority list thing on the side plus some other goodies.
I am also kind of a nerd when it comes to pens and highlighters, and these are my favorites.
Favorite Pen
Zebra Pen Sarasa Mark ON – This pen is just amazing. Easy to hold and writes so smoothly.
Favorite Highlighters
Zebra Pen Neutral Palette Set – The highlighter’s colors are beautiful and just make your text pop. The set colors are such fall colors and will fit perfectly when planning your reading for fall.
Favorite stickers
Bloom daily planners Calendar Essentials Planner Stickers – Cute stickers that make your schedule more structured and cuter.
Plus I like having stickers to make things pretty and give me inspiration, as seen above. Of course, you do not have to buy new things to start planning but for me, it’s like I am starting a new chapter and it gives me that extra motivation. When it comes to bigger events and such I usually also write that down in my calendar, and when it comes to that I prefer my phone calendar.
Step 1
I start my planning off by writing one list of all the things I have to do that week and another list of all the things I want to do that week. So on my Haves list, I would add things such as studying for a test or a deadline that needs finishing, and on the wants list, I would add things like reading or baking something inspired by a book and so on. To every item on the list add how long time you estimate you would need and if you have to be in a certain place or not.
Step 2
Now that you have the lists, depending on how much you have on your haves and how long they will take you will have more or less time for the wants list. They will take a look at your fixed schedule to see where you have time. Then you will start puzzling together the items in your list into your schedule.
Step 3
I also like adding inspirational quotes for the week or cute stickers and using highlights and different color pens to be inspired and want to actually follow the schedule.
The last step is to decorate, so you feel happy and inspired looking at your calendar. This is obviously my favorite part! Here you can go ballistic on all those cute bookish stickers or use your artistic talents and draw.
*note
Remember to leave room for things such as eating and commuting. Maybe you can listen to a book while eating or when driving. Or maybe read a book on the bus or train to school.
#3 Bookish Fall Music
My last advice for you is to find the perfect fall music playlist. The music that makes you dream and feel as if you are in a book. What is a better way to set the mood than listening to amazing music? Even doing mundane tasks will give you that autumn feel and maybe make you think about that amazing book you are reading.
I also love listening to music while reading, now this is not for everyone and not always for me. But music can really give you those feelings. And for me, music can sometimes be a short book where you create your own characters and experiences.
I am gonna let you in on a secret, one of the reasons I love fall is because it is a period where being sad is okay, and listening to sad music actually sets the mood for the seasons outside. It is as if nature is telling us it is okay to cry. You are not being dramatic, you are just taking care of yourself and living is tough, and not everything can stay the same.
So on to my music recommendations. In my opinion, anything Hozier with his dreamy lyrics and voice there is nothing better for fall. Noah Kahn is another favorite to listen to in the fall. I also love Lizzy Maclpine, Gracie Abrams, and Lana Del Rey for fall espesially. Now not all of us have the time to listen through all of their music to find the best ones so here are some of my favorites you should add to your bookish fall playlist.
